Ugghh.. hospitals. If you’ve ever been in one you know what I mean. Sure it’s not so bad when you aren’t the patient but when you are.. ugghh. And if you somehow like being in the hospital.. well.. you’re just weird.
So today I had this annoying pain on the right side of my stomach next to my hip bone for like a minute or two. Then about 10 minutes later my stomach EXPLODED in pain. Everything hurt. I could feel it all across my lower stomach and up into my ribs and in my back and down into my butt. I couldn’t move for about 20 minutes and was just laying on the floor in the fetal position. Finally I was able to move a bit and decided to go down to the emergency room because my boyfriend’s mom is a nurse and she was thinking that it was a kidney stone. So we got down there, got checked into a room and of course, my worst nightmare – I had to have an IV put in. I absolutely HATE needles but I gotta do what I gotta do. They took some blood samples and of course a pee sample (which is awesome) and when the results came back.. nothing. Everything was normal. So odds are that it’s not a kidney stone. Basically the options for what it is are: something with my appendix, something with my bladder, an ovarian cyst, pelvic inflammation, or just a random stomach pain that will go away. The doctor said that lots of times people get abdominal pain and you can’t ever figure out why. He also said that the only way to figure out if it’s any of the other things that I’ll have to have a CT scan. I decided not to do it right then because he said I could go home and see how it develops in 12-24 hours and if it doesn’t go away or get worse I could come back in and we can decide what should be done and if it goes away then I’m good to go. He also said that if it’s something more severe like my appendix or a cyst that since I came in right at the start of the pain that I should be okay for 24 hours, that nothing serious will happen.
So I came home, IV still in my arm and am still in pain. It’s definitely bearable but only when I’m laying down. If I sit up or move around it just hurts. I don’t know if I’ll need to go back in today but if I do hopefully it’s not too serious. I want just to know what it is and figure out what I need to do to fix it.
